The meeting of the International Affairs Committee of the Veterinary System Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in the organization's meeting hall, with the presence of Dr. Abbas Ali Mottalib, the organization's head, and with the agenda of reviewing education in the international field.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Veterinary System Organization, at the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Abbas Ali Motlabi, referring to the legal powers of the Veterinary System Organization and the importance of human resource empowerment, referred to the specialized committees as the "think tanks" of the private sector and said: "Currently, 14 specialized committees are operating in various fields of veterinary medicine with the presence of more than 100 to 150 volunteer professors and specialists, and all of them serve mission-oriented."

Stating that "international affairs" was one of the areas that had not been active in the organization in previous years, he added: "By utilizing specialists and experts, this committee was formed to introduce the scientific and professional capabilities of Iranian veterinary medicine to the world. Today, we have more than 17,000 veterinarians who must introduce our human and technological capacities to other countries and at the same time bring the world's latest technology and knowledge to the country."

Stressing the need to establish contacts with international institutions and organizations, Dr. Motlabi noted: "Based on past experiences, many of these institutions are more inclined to cooperate with the private sector than the government sector. Therefore, we must provide effective ways to connect to these institutions through planning and cooperation with committee members and have a clear roadmap for approaches and strategies in international affairs."

Continuing the meeting, Dr. Hesamuddin Akbarin, Deputy Director of Education, Research, and Technology of the Veterinary System Organization, referred to the educational challenges from the university stage to employment and said: "Our goal is to empower human resources through holding retraining and new training courses. A draft of a dedicated training package has been prepared, and we believe that training courses should be designed to suit the needs of applicants for issuing or renewing an activity license."

He added: "Some courses are mandatory and must be completed in the process of issuing or renewing a license, but others are specialized and diverse. Our plan is to use domestic and international educational capacities simultaneously. Given the current conditions in the country, international courses will first begin online, and our goal is to hold these courses in person in the shortest possible time."
