The President of the Iranian Veterinary Council held a meeting with the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Iran to explore pathways for enhancing joint scientific, technical, and research collaborations within the framework of One Health.
During the session, both sides reviewed opportunities for cooperation in areas related to animal health, food safety, public health, and community wellbeing. The discussion highlighted the importance of strengthening Iran’s participation in international programs and collaborative projects, particularly those focused on emerging diseases, veterinary capacity-building, and integrated One Health initiatives.
According to the Public Relations Office of the Iranian Veterinary Council, FAO representatives were provided with a comprehensive overview of the scientific, technical, educational, and service capabilities of Iran’s veterinary sector, as well as the extensive role of veterinarians across the country.
The Council emphasized the essential contribution of the veterinary network to animal health, food hygiene, zoonotic disease prevention, and public health, stressing the need for continued international engagement and the application of global standards and best practices.
